Life's a Marathon

To my loved ones everywhere.
Sacrament Meeting in Papa and Tutu's ward nestled under protective "Y" mountain, was a spiritual boost as always. The young couple who spoke gave talks on the gifts of the spirit. The husband ran the DC marathon so his remarks were about the marathon and receiving aid every two or so miles, the last aids being tylenol and aspirin. We chuckled at that, especially when he said the last mile was so uphill it felt like a 90--45 degree angle leaning backwards. It was an effective metaphor for our life's "marathon". We receive aids along the way to keep us on the straight and narrow, the strength and grace of our Savior to give us the stamina to endure to the end. The first "first aid" we receive is faith, faith to lean on the Savior and when we do, we are set to run the race successfully. So, let's not forgo the 'aid' stations thinking we can go it alone because in reality we cannot. Good lesson, yes?
So glad to have so many wonderful people in my life. And, how I enjoy being among my young darlings. How could I have even guessed what they would mean to me--even you young ones getting wise and TALL. I pray for you each day that you will run "life's" marathon with the aid of the gifts of the spirit. Love to all of you. GC
